Doris Joan Newton

Doris Joan Newton, age 81, of Ethridge, TN passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025. She was a native of Lawrence County, TN, retired from Murray Ohio, and a member of New Salem Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanford and Mildred Hicks Higdon; her husband, Charles Edward Newton; daughter-in-law, Cyndi Newton; one sister, Margorie Newton; and one brother, Stanley Higdon.

She is survived by one son, Terry Newton (Cindy) of Summertown, TN; two daughters, Pam Burch (Charles) and Donna Hardy (Steve), both of Ethridge, TN; one sister, Kathy James (David); six grandchildren, Brad Newton (Cheraka), J.C. Newton (Mandy), Hunter Burch (Courtney), Haylen Burch, Colby Dec, and Kalie Berak; ten great grandchildren, Garrett, Ethan, Emma, Lizzie, Everett, Lily, Remy, Adri Berak, Skylar Berak, Tristan Berak; one great-grandchild on the way, Ellie Joe Burch; honorary great-grandson, James Beaty; several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, December 11, 2025, and from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Friday, December 12, 2025 at New Salem Church of God. Funeral services will be conducted at New Salem Church of God at 2:00 PM Friday, December 12, 2025, with Robby Henderson officiating.  Interment will follow at New Salem Cemetery in Summertown, TN.
