Kelly Renee Todd Smith

Kelly Renee Todd Smith, 54, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Columbia, Tennessee, on the morning of November 30, 2025.

Kelly was born on December 18, 1970, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, to parents Robert and Joyce Todd. She had one older brother, Michael Todd, whom she admired and emulated through much of her life. Kelly was an active member in many youth programs during her childhood and teenage years including softball, volleyball, cheerleading, and 4H club. Some of her favorite stories to tell were about the chickens she raised and the battles she fought against her rooster. She enjoyed helping her mother craft, sew, and paint.

After graduating from Lawrence County High School in 1989, Kelly used her entrepreneurial spirit to obtain a Bachelor’s degree from Tennessee Tech in fashion merchandising in 1995. One year after graduating, Kelly married David Smith and the couple moved to Houston, Texas, in 1997 where they would go on to welcome both of their children, a daughter in 1999 and a son in 2001.

In 2004, the family decided to move back to Tennessee where they would settle equal distance between her family and his. Inspired by her mother’s store, Kelly opened a children’s consignment store of her own in 2005. Through her time running her own store, leading a girl scout troop, and working for the Williamson County school system, Kelly became a well known and active member of the community in Spring Hill, Tennessee.

Kelly was a passionate and vivacious personality who could make anyone laugh with her quick wit and sharp humor. She could talk to anyone and often recounted stories of the friends she made in line at the grocery store or at the gas station. She never met a stranger. She was devoted to her family and friends, and always took the role as cheerleader in every situation. Kelly will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Kelly is survived by her husband David Smith of Columbia, daughter Elaine Smith, son Robert Smith, father Robert Todd mother Joyce Todd, brother Michael Todd, sister-in-law Lisa Todd, niece Sarah Todd, and nephew Matthew Todd.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Neal Funeral Home. A memorial and celebration of life will be held at Neal Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 20, 2025, with Brad Lowery officiating.
