Elizabeth Jean Carrell Legg, 96, of Decatur Alabama, entered her eternal home Tuesday December 2, 2025 at Decatur General Hospital surrounded by loved ones.
She was born November 10, 1929, in Lawrence County, to the late Otto Carrell and Bertha Standridge Carrell. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she devoted her life to providing a Christian home for her family always welcoming them with delicious home cooked meals and special snacks for the grandkids. A faithful lifelong member of East End UMC, her recipes have been passed on and will now be cherished for generations to come.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kedrick Earl Legg, after 73 years of marriage, her son, Stephen Kedrick Legg, daughter, Melinda Kay Ashcraft, and great-granddaughter, Jaidyn Ashcaft; brothers, William “Bill” Carrell (Marjorie) and Otto Carrell Jr. (Orlene).
She will be greatly missed by her surviving son, Brian Keith Legg (Pam) of Moulton, daughter-in-law, Mary Legg and son-in-law, Ken Ashcraft, seven grandchildren, Laura-Ashley Stone (Jake), Amanda Graham (Josh), Mark Ashcraft (Dawn), Dustin Ashcraft, Brittany Overall (Mike), Chelsea Sadler (Dee), and Maria Legg; ten great-grandchildren, Levi English (Rayna), Khy Boggs, Brooklyn Ashcraft, Chance Overall, Abigail Graham, Caroline Graham, Stella Sadler, Mac Sadler, Shepherd Sadler, and Jacob Hawkins Stone, who loved her immensely and affectionately called her Monie.
The family would like to express deep appreciation to NHC Healthcare in Moulton, Alabama and Affinity Hospice for their love and care. As well as Margurette Mammarelli, her cherished friend.
Pallbearers will be Dee Sadler, Charlie Burton, Dustin Ashcraft, Mark Ashcraft, Ken Ashcraft and Josh Graham. Honorary pallbearers will be Levi English and Chance Overall.
