According to a Facebook post release by the Loretto Police Department,

On Thursday, November 27, officers responded to a report of a person exiting a window of a home under construction on Commerce Street. When contacted, the subject became aggressive, shouted profanities, armed himself with two large sticks, and ignored police commands while moving toward North Military Street (Hwy 43). Corporal Reed with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department tackled the subject as he attempted to strike Loretto Officer Gary Mills. The subject continued to resist until Investigator Jeff Dunn, his wife, and off-duty St. Joseph Officer Jason Jantke assisted in safely taking him into custody.

The subject was identified as Adan Castillo of Washington State and charged with criminal trespassing, aggravated assault on an officer, and resisting arrest. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Officials note an increase in the homeless population and remind citizens to use caution when offering help. If concerned about someone, contact Lawrence County E-911 at 762-0450 for assistance.
