Suspicious Trailer Fire Reported in Iron City

On November 24, at approximately 5:54 p.m., Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a trailer fire in Iron City.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the property owner, Samantha Atwell, who reported hearing a loud explosion around 5:30 a.m., followed by flames at a trailer on her property. The trailer, which belongs to her daughter, is vacant and has no power or running water. Atwell said she had not seen her daughter in several days and is unsure why anyone would deliberately set fire to the trailer.

The fire is under investigation.
