John Thomas Guschke, Jr.

John Thomas Guschke, Jr., age 86, of Birmingham, AL passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Kirkwood by the River in Birmingham, AL. Born in Lawrenceburg, TN to John Guschke and Mary Halter Guschke.  He was the youngest of four children.  John attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, Lawrence County High School, then Tennessee Tech where he majored in Engineering.  He worked and retired from the Bell System.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Jean Ellingboe; three siblings, Betty Jane, Mary Sue, and Virginia Anne; and one daughter, Patricia Ann Guschke.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Ryan Guschke; his children, Susan Leigh Guschke, James Andrew Guschke, Micheal Lawrence Guschke and his wife Michelle Guschke; and two grandchildren, Thomas Copeland and Evan Guschke.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Graveside service and inurnment will be conducted at Calvary Cemetery at 1:00 PM Friday, December 5, 2025, with Father Andrew Forsythe officiating.
