Bobby Gene Ezell, born 07/13/1937 died 11/27/2025, on Thanksgiving morning, moments before a beautiful sunrise. God gave him a wonderful Thanksgiving gift – a new road he had not traveled before with the best of blessings ahead.
Survived by wife, Wanda Mabry Ezell of 67 ½ years of Huntsville, AL. Daughters Karen Ezell Smelser (Jim), of Huntsville, AL, Donna Ezell Rains (Michael-deceased), 5 grandsons- Andrew (Lauryn) Atlanta, GA, Ryan Smelser, Huntsville, AL, Connor Smelser, Atlanta, GA, Colin (Menzie) Rains, Atlanta, GA, Kyle Rains, Baton Rouge, LA, 2 great grandchildren, Emery & Eli Smelser, Atlanta, GA.
Bobby was born in Lauderdale County, AL, to parents James Patrick (J.P.) and Rosalie (Marshall) Ezell (both deceased). Brothers included Kenneth (deceased) (Patsy) of Mesquite, TX, Gerald (Mary Nell, deceased), Billy (deceased) (Dian), all of Lawrenceburg. Sisters included Doris (Hollis) Dickey (both deceased) and Charlotte (R.L.) Glass (both deceased) all of Lawrenceburg. He has numerous nieces and nephews.
Bobby graduated from Summertown High school and enjoyed his highly successful basketball teams in his junior and senior years.
Bobby and Wanda married May 10, 1958 and they lived and worked in Nashville. He served in the Army where he received 2 honors, one for his expert marksmanship and another one from the city of Hamburg, Germany for his relief work. He retired from Pirelli Tire. Bobby and Wanda enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time with family and grandchildren. They moved to Franklin, TN and lived there for 25 years, before moving to Huntsville, AL in 2022.
Bobby was a Christian who lead a quiet life, worked with his hands and won the respect of others by his daily life – I Thessalonians 4: 11 & 12.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens at 2:00 PM Monday, December 1, 2025, with Jim Smelser officiating.
