Lawrence County Fire Rescue and Lawrence County EMS were dispatched on Saturday (Nov. 15) to a report of a man pinned in a machine by a large tree in the Gandy Fire District. Responders from both agencies worked together to free the trapped individual shortly after arriving on scene.
Based on initial dispatch information, a heavy wrecker was requested as a precaution. Personnel from Lawrence County Emergency Management and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office provided an emergency escort for the wrecker, though crews were able to complete the rescue using equipment already on scene before the heavy unit arrived.
The patient was successfully extricated and was able to walk away with only minor injuries.
Agencies noted effective teamwork across all responding units.
