Tennessee gas prices fell a penny last week, holding steady at an average of $2.61 per gallon. The state’s average is 10 cents lower than last month and 14 cents below this time last year, making Tennessee the fourth least expensive market in the nation, according to AAA. Nationally, the average price for regular gasoline rose four cents to $3.07 per gallon, partly due to refinery maintenance in California. Gasoline demand dipped slightly last week to 8.87 million barrels per day, while production averaged 9.8 million barrels per day. In Tennessee, the most expensive metro areas are Jackson ($2.66), Nashville ($2.65), and Memphis ($2.64). The least expensive are Chattanooga ($2.51), Clarksville ($2.52), and Cleveland ($2.54).
