Southern Tennessee Regional Health System–Pulaski announced plans to temporarily pause labor and delivery services effective Thursday, December 11. Hospital CEO Jason Fugleberg said the decision follows the departure of the hospital’s last full-time obstetrician earlier this year and continuing recruitment challenges. Expectant mothers will continue receiving prenatal and postnatal care locally, but deliveries will take place at STRHS–Lawrenceburg. Pulaski’s full-time obstetrician, Dr. Sara Bush, and certified nurse midwife, LeAnn Gordon, will continue serving patients in Pulaski. The hospital emphasized that no other services will be affected. Fugleberg said the hospital is exploring new models of care and ways to expand women’s health services in the region, and that STRHS–Pulaski remains committed to serving the community and keeping patients informed throughout the transition.
