Nguyệt Thị Vũ Kamb “Donna”, aged 88, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, in Columbia, Tennessee. Born on June 20, 1937, in Cù Đà village, Hanoi, Vietnam, she lived a life marked by resilience, love, and dedication to her family and community.
Nguyệt was the cherished daughter of the late Vũ Văn Hoàn and Nguyễn Thị Mùi, and grew up surrounded by her siblings in the lush landscapes of her native Vietnam. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, leaving behind a legacy that is carried on by her remaining family. Her brother, Đỗn Vũ, and sister, Hoàn Vũ Nguyễn, remember her as a beacon of strength and compassion.
A devoted mother, Nguyệt is survived by her three loving daughters, Carol Sessions (Henry), Linda Shaw, and Michelle Keaton (Steve). She instilled in them the values of hard work, perseverance, and kindness. Her eight grandchildren, Jeremy Shaw, Henry Sessions, Lesley Allison (Garin), Joanna Szurley (Alex), Adam Keaton (Jessie), Joseph Shaw, Amber Sessions, and Sean Sessions, as well as her six great-grandchildren, Oliver, Arthur, Theodore, Alanna, Sophia, and Ruby, will miss her deeply. Her legacy will also live on through the numerous nieces and nephews who revered her as an aunt.
Nguyệt’s journey to the United States in 1967 marked the beginning of a new chapter in her life. She became a proud naturalized citizen in 1974, embracing her new home while maintaining a deep connection to her Vietnamese heritage. As a skilled seamstress, she not only provided for her family but also enriched her community with her craftsmanship. Her commitment to her work was paralleled by her involvement in various associations, where she shared her talents and fostered lifelong friendships.
A Buddhist by faith, Nguyệt found solace and guidance in the teachings of Buddha. Her spirituality was reflected in the way she lived her life, always striving for peace and harmony in her relationships and surroundings.
Nguyệt’s passions extended beyond her profession to the simple pleasures of life. She had a green thumb, finding joy in the tranquility of her garden, where she cultivated both flowers and vegetables. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and incredible aromas, as she was an excellent cook who loved to share her culinary creations with her family and friends. Sewing was another pastime through which she expressed her creativity, creating beautiful garments and gifts for her loved ones.
As we bid farewell to Nguyệt Thị Vũ Kamb, we remember a woman of immense character, a matriarch who shaped the lives of her family, and a friend who touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her memory will be treasured and kept alive through the stories shared, the lessons taught, and the love she gave unconditionally. Nguyệt’s life was a tapestry of rich experiences, woven with threads of courage, love, and joy, which will continue to inspire generations to come.
