Maury Authorities Warn of Scam

The Maury County Sheriff’s Department is warning residents of an active scam circulating in the area.  Callers are impersonating sheriff’s department employees, claiming that the victim has an active warrant for their arrest, that they have missed jury duty, or that they must pay a fine to avoid legal action.  They point out that all such calls are scams.  Law enforcement will not call to ask for money, to request payment to avoid arrest, or demand gift cards, wire transfers or other forms of payment.  If you receive such a call, they urge you to report it to your local law enforcement agency.
