Wayne Commission Imposes 5¢ Per Pound Tipping Fee on Garbage

At the request of the Budget Committee, members of the Wayne County Commission have voted to implement a five cent per pound tipping fee for commercial haulers who dispose of trash at the Wayne County Solid Waste Facility.  This is the first step in addressing the department’s declining financial situation.  As a result, Raekar, the company that collects garbage in the area, has announced a $9.75 increase for residential customers, increasing bills from $9 to $18.75 per month. Commercial customers will be notified about increases, as well.
