Florence Police Investigating Death of 11-Year-Old Boy

Florence Police are investigating the death of an 11-year-old boy found unresponsive in a vehicle outside his home on October 27 at Hermitage Place Apartments on Hermitage Drive. According to police, employees of the apartment complex began lifesaving measures before emergency services arrived. The child was taken to North Alabama Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His body was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy. The boy was a student in the Florence City School System, and additional counselors have been made available for students. Detectives continue to investigate.
