Wayne Sheriff Addresses Possible Trespassing by Cable Contractors

Wayne County Sheriff Wayne Fisher has issued an alert to residents that fiber-optic cable contractors have been accessing private properties without permission. State law requires written consent from property owners before the installation of any underground utilities or cables. These contractors are only authorized to install underground cables along government-owned properties or along public rights-of-way. Anyone who has such an issue is urged to contact the sheriff’s department to report it.
