Major Jerry F. Holt, Retired, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and decorated military veteran, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, in Columbia, Tennessee. Born on October 13, 1941, in Memphis, Tennessee, he lived a life marked by service, faith, and a profound love for his family and country.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Raymond and Mary McDowell Holt; his daughter, Julie Elizabeth Holt; his siblings, Joyce Holt Estes, Jo Ann Holt, and Jack Holt, who also served in the Air Force. His legacy continues through his wife of 60 years, Buna Anderson Holt of Lawrenceburg, TN; his son, Steven Holt (Jeannie) of Dayton, OH; his adoring grandsons, Jacob (Emily), Jared (Claire), and Joshua Holt; as well as his cherished great-grandchildren, Josiah, Ainsely, and Rhett Holt, alongside several devoted nieces and nephews.

Major Holt proudly retired from the United States Air Force, having served his country with honor and distinction during the Vietnam Era. His patriotism and commitment to duty were unwavering throughout his career, and he carried these principles with him long after his retirement. A man of intelligence and wisdom, Jerry was also a graduate with a Bachelor’s degree, a testament to his belief in the power of education and lifelong learning.

A devout Christian, he was a dedicated member of Deerfield Baptist Church, where he found strength and community. Jerry’s interests were as diverse as they were passionate. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of baseball, whether playing in his younger days or cheering on his favorite team. Woodworking and tinkering were his way of unwinding, often resulting in beautiful creations and ingenious fixes around the home. His love for coin collecting spoke to his appreciation for history and the stories embedded within each piece.

Jerry was a man who loved the military and loved the Lord with equal fervor. He was known as handy, always ready to lend a skilled hand to a neighbor or friend in need. His intelligence shone through in his strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, while his wisdom guided his family through life’s many challenges.

His life was a testament to the values he held dear: hard work, commitment, and kindness. Major Jerry F. Holt Retired leaves behind a legacy of love and honor that will continue to inspire those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a pillar of strength, a beacon of wisdom, and a true American hero.
