The Lauderdale County, AL Sheriff’s Office is again warning residents of a phone scam that has been circulating in the area. The caller claims that the person has an active warrant for missing court, then demands that they pay money to avoid going to jail. They instruct the person to withdraw money from their bank and take it to a crypto currency kiosk, which is usually at a nearby convenience store, and instructs them to wire the money to a specific account. They remind residents that this is a scam, and that such contact should be reported to your local law enforcement agency.
