During a special session on October 20, the Lawrence County Commission approved several resolutions supporting local services and community projects. The commission approved bringing jail food service operations in-house after the current contract ends, and a new contract for mobile dental services at the Lawrence County Jail was also approved. County Executive David Morgan was authorized to negotiate the sale of the Southern Tennessee Higher Education Center to Columbia State Community College, strengthening local higher education opportunities. The commission also approved applying for a Tennessee Historic Development Grant to support rehabilitation work on the historic Lawrence County Courthouse.
