Mary Ellen Hudgins Thomas

Mary Ellen Hudgins Thomas, age 92, of Dalton, GA passed away Saturday, October 18, 2025, at her residence.  She was a native of Giles County, TN, retired after 55 years of service as a registered nurse spanning hospitals, TVA industrial nurse, and administrative duties.  She was also a member of Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Lebanon, TN and enjoyed jewelry making.  She and her husband were avid UT football fans making every game a major event.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James C. Hudgins, Sr. and Hilda Chandler Hudgins; her husband, James Brice Thomas; one sister, Billie Doris Langnau, two brothers, Thomas E. Hudgins and Dr. James C. Hudgins, Jr.; and two sons, Kirk Lee Thomas and Darrell C. Thomas.

She is survived by one brother, David Leon Hudgins (Marian) of Dalton, GA; sisters-in-law, Rosa M. Hudgins of Clemmons, NC and Patricia Flatt Gilliam of Lawrenceburg, TN; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Neal Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 12:00 PM Saturday, October 25, 2025, with Cynthia Seifert officiating.  Interment will follow at Five Points Church of Christ Cemetery in Five Points, TN.  The family suggests memorials be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee, 1704 Charlotte Avenue Suite 130, Nashville, TN  37203 or your local chapter.  Condolences may be sent by way of our website at www.nealfuneralhome.net.
