Gas prices in Tennessee fell an average of four cents last week, bringing the state’s average to $2.71 per gallon of regular gasoline. This is seven cents lower than one month ago and 14 cents less than one year ago, making Tennessee the seventh least expensive market in the nation. Nationally, the average price for regular gasoline dropped five cents to $3.08 per gallon. Lower demand and ample gasoline supplies are contributing to the decline, with inventories higher as the U.S. transitions to winter-grade fuel. Regional prices in Tennessee vary: the most expensive metro areas are Jackson ($2.78), Memphis ($2.75), and Nashville ($2.73), while the least expensive are Clarksville ($2.62), Chattanooga ($2.64), and Cleveland ($2.66).
