Friday morning’s deadly blast in Hickman County, which killed 16 people, was registered as a 1.6-magnitude earthquake by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The explosion had an estimated 250-kilometer radius. Officials from the Humphreys and Hickman County Emergency Management Agencies said controlled detonations will continue at the site to safely dispose of unstable or hazardous materials. Residents may hear, feel, or see these blasts as they occur. Local authorities said they will provide at least a 30-minute warning via social media before each detonation. As of Sunday morning, the Humphreys County EMA has announced one scheduled blast at 8:25 a.m.
