Investigators Wright and Watkins of the Lawrence County Medical Examiner’s Office spent the week participating in the Medicolegal Death Investigation Program at Saint Louis University’s Department of Pathology. The four-day program, recognized nationally, brought together death investigation professionals from across the country and abroad. Participants completed lectures and hands-on workshops covering forensic pathology, scene investigations, interactions with families and responders, trauma analysis, child death investigations, crime lab processes, asphyxia and fire/explosion deaths, toxicology, and forensic anthropology and odontology. The training provides critical knowledge and practical skills for investigators, allowing them to learn directly from leading forensic specialists. Lawrence County’s remaining death investigators are scheduled to attend the program in the spring, ensuring the office continues to provide thorough, professional, and compassionate service to the community.
