Florence Man Charged in Mars Hill Road Shooting

Florence police responded to the 700 block of Mars Hill Road on September 30 after reports of shots fired. Officers found blood droplets at the scene but no victims.

A short time later, a gunshot victim arrived at North Alabama Medical Center. While officers were still gathering evidence at the original location, the suspected shooter returned and surrendered to police.

Javontae Zackery, 26, of Florence, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault. He was booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Center on a $30,000 bond.

Police noted that Zackery is considered innocent until proven guilty.
