Tennessee State Parks has opened new accessible paddling launches at Reelfoot Lake, Indian Mountain, and Warriors’ Path state parks. The launches include a transition bench, roll cage with grab bars, hand straps, and pull bars to help people with disabilities or limited mobility enter and exit kayaks, canoes, or paddleboards. With the additions, eight Tennessee State Parks now have accessible launches. Others include Booker T. Washington, David Crockett, Meeman-Shelby Forest, Montgomery Bell, and Seven Islands State Birding Park. Officials said the effort is part of an ongoing initiative to improve accessibility, which also includes features such as all-terrain wheelchairs, paved trails and overlooks, adult-sized changing tables, and color blind viewers.
