Florence Police Officer Arrested in Lauderdale County

On Saturday, September 27, the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 disturbance call involving an off-duty Florence Police officer and another individual. Following an on-scene investigation and interviews with multiple witnesses, the officer, Evan Thornton, was arrested for third-degree domestic violence. Thornton was booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Center with a $5,000 bond. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty and has been placed on administrative leave.
