Madison Schools Bring In Weapons Detecting Dog

The Madison, AL, City Schools has brought a weapons detecting dog into the school system to help ensure student safety.  The black Labrador, Gemini, who is trained to detect firearms and ammunition, began his duties earlier this month.  The Madison district suffered a fatal shooting at Discovery Middle School in 2010 when one student shot another, and has had other gun-related incidents, including two last fall.  School officials are continuing their efforts to boost security, and bringing in a weapons detecting dog is the latest in their effort to ensure the safety of the all of the district’s students.
