The Columbia Police Department is reminding parents that it is never a good idea to move your child to a forward-facing car seat before they have outgrown a rear-facing seat. Experts say that keeping your child in a rear-facing seat for as long as possible, up to the limits of the car seat, is the best way to keep a child safe and to prevent traumatic injury in the event of a crash.
