The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) is reminding hunters that archery-only deer season and fall turkey season open statewide Saturday, Sept. 27. Deer archery season runs Sept. 27–Oct. 24 and Oct. 27–Nov. 7. For turkey, archery is open Sept. 27–Oct. 24 and Oct. 27–Nov. 7, with a shotgun/archery season Oct. 11–24. Turkey hunting is closed in Crockett, Dyer, Giles, Haywood, Lake, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Lincoln, Shelby, Tipton, and Wayne counties. More than 100 wildlife management areas and refuges are available for deer hunters at various times. Hunters are required to hold the proper licenses and permits, and those on private land must obtain landowner permission. Season details and regulations can be found in the 2025–26 Tennessee Hunting and Trapping Guide, available at license outlets, online at tnwildlife.org, or through the TWRA On the Go app.
