The Huntsville Police Department reports that during the first month of the school year, from August 4 through 29, officers with the department conducted 249 traffic stops in school zones. The department’s on-going Zero in the Zone initiative targets various violations motorists make while traveling through school zones. The total number of traffic stops resulted in 234 citations being issued to motorists, along with 72 warnings. They remind motorists to adhere to all school zone rules rather than being cited for a violation.
