The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office wants to help residents stay warm this winter. Sheriff Matt Tiller announced that the office has a surplus of firewood available for qualified individuals who use wood to heat their homes. Senior citizens and those on a limited or fixed income are eligible to apply for the program by visiting the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office at 437 Swan Avenue in Hohenwald, Tennessee, and filling out an application. Each qualified individual may receive five to six ranks of firewood. Firewood can be picked up on Thursdays and Fridays between noon and 4:00 PM, beginning Thursday, October 2, 2025.
