Columbia Police Seek Public Help in Fatal Hit-and-Run

The Columbia Police Department is asking the public for assistance following a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of 63-year-old Teresa Nelson. Officers responded just before 5:00 a.m. Thursday (9/11) to reports of a pedestrian in the roadway on Tom J. Hitch Parkway near River Highlands Apartments. Nelson was found deceased at the scene. The driver involved fled before authorities arrived. Detectives determined Nelson was last seen at her residence around 4:30 a.m., with emergency services notified at 4:50 a.m., establishing a narrow timeline for the incident. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is assisting in the investigation.
