Charles William Lyons, known as Dad and Paw to his family, was born on May 30, 1938 and passed away at the age of 87 on the morning of September 6, 2025. He spent his final two weeks surrounded by his Savior and loved ones. In his final days of strength, he remained active in some of his favorite activities: cutting hay alongside his son, visiting his wife’s grave, and treating himself to a burger from Berryhill’s.

In his pastime, Charles enjoyed going out into his pasture to care for his cattle. He was excited to update friends and family on new calves and the occasional spotting of different animals in his field, like the peacock. He enjoyed sitting back in his recliner to watch old western shows and bull riding. He loved home-cooked meals, and his friends would regularly bring meals for him after his wife, Sandra, passed away in 2024. Charles also actively attended the Thousand Hills Cowboy Church, where he reunited with the Lord.

Married for 68 years to Sandra Lyons, they gave life to four boys: Wayne Lyons (Tamie), David Lyons (Angie), Matthew Lyons (Carol) and Johnny Lyons (Jeci). The family tree continued to grow with their 10 grandchildren: Justin, Amber, Benjamin (Kaley), Bryson (Alison), Jonathon, Kristin (Colton), Karlee (Lucas), J.C. (Lyndie), Shizuku, and William. Charles also lived to see seven great grandchildren enter the world: Lily, Carson, Logan, Axl, Archer, Cooper, and Charlie.

After a life long-lived, he has returned to his heavenly home with his Lord, wife Sandra Jean Dooley Lyons and his parents, Johnnie Robert and Ruby L. Phillips Lyons. In addition to his wife and parents he is also preceded by his brother Robert Lyons and sister Jewel Casteel. He is survived by his brothers, Jesse and Tommy (Kathy), his sisters, Linda Ray and Shirley Corbin, and several nieces and nephews.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Justin Lyons, Benjamin Lyons, Bryson Lyons, Jonathon Lyons, J.C. Lyons, William Lyons, Colton Rochelle and Lucas Hedrick.

We will forever miss his conversations, presence, and love. We will see you again soon.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, September 8, 2025 at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 9, 2025 with Art McCormack officiating. Interment will follow at Ethridge Masonic Cemetery in Ethridge, TN. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
