Athens PD Warns of Scam

The Athens Police Department is warning the public of another scam that is circulating. A police captain received one of the scam calls, where the caller impersonated law enforcement, claiming to have an outstanding warrant against him. During the call, the caller demanded payment by phone. Officials urge residents to disregard such calls, never comply with the caller and give personal or banking information. If you receive such a call you should contact your local law enforcement agency to report it.
