According to a social media post from the Loretto Police Department, on September 3, Robert Timothy Lance was arrested in Loretto for Aggravated Assault after a contractor reported being harassed while working at Weathers’ Park. Police say Lance impeded the contractor’s work, filmed him with a cellphone, and threatened him with a firearm.
While being booked, Lance made statements threatening the Mayor, City Manager, Aldermen, and Police Chief, resulting in an additional charge of Terrorist Threats. A search of his residence led to the seizure of the firearm used and other weapons.
Lance was booked into the Lawrence County Jail with a $110,000 bond. His first appearance in General Sessions is scheduled for October. The arrest involved assistance from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, St. Joseph Police Department, and constables Randy Tucker and Tony Lancaster.
Lance is innocent until proven guilty.
