Jimmy Roy Gowan

Jimmy Roy Gowan, 77, of Cherokee, died Thursday, September 4, 2025, at NAMC.

Visitation will be Monday, September 8, 2025, 12-1 PM at Elkins East Chapel. Funeral service will follow in the chapel.

Mr. Gowan was a Boiler Maker. He was a lover of Christ and a faithful follower. He loved fishing and the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlie Ruth Gowan; parents, Justin Hendrix and Lottie Ruth Gowan; sons in law, Roy Matsuno and Johnny Ward.

Mr. Gowan is survived by his children, Sherry Matsuno, Ann Cox (John), and Michelle Ward; siblings, Ann Pierce, Mamie Tyler, Marion Aunspaugh (Wayne), and Justin Hendrix Gowan, Jr. (Kristal); grandchildren, Kristie Ghrigsby, Johnathan Ward, Kayla Bobo (Coty), Jared Cox (Carly), and Nathan Cox (Caitlin); great-grandchildren, John Mikel Ward, Margaret Ward, Katlin Ward, Ashlee Olsen, and Conan Cox; his dog, “Charlie”.
