Columbia State Community College recognized 18 emergency medical technicians and 31 paramedics who completed their certificates during the Summer 2025 EMS Pinning Ceremony at the Cherry Theater. The Summer 2025 EMT completers achieved a 94% first-attempt pass rate for the national registry, while the paramedic cohort earned a 100% first-attempt pass rate on the Paramedic National Registry Cognitive Exam. This marks three consecutive years and four out of the last five years that the paramedic cohorts have reached a 100% first-attempt pass rate. Lawrence County paramedic graduates included Braden Guthrie and Alexandra Harrell. Wayne County paramedic graduate Jazmin Powell-Van Alstine was also recognized. EMT and paramedic graduates may pursue a General Technology Associate of Applied Science degree, combining coursework from certificates with general education classes. The program provides training for life-saving skills and prepares students to work independently and in teams. For more information, visit www.ColumbiaState.edu/EMS or call 931-540-2792.
