The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office has released its monthly activity report, detailing calls for service, arrests, and incidents handled throughout August. Deputies responded to 1,114 calls for service, a mix of proactive and reactive responses, which led to 151 arrests. Among the reported incidents were 25 cases of domestic violence, 17 thefts, 17 vandalism reports, and 12 fraud cases. Deputies also handled 57 animal-related calls and responded to 38 reports of suspicious persons or activity. Traffic enforcement included 86 traffic stops and assistance to 21 motorists. Deputies investigated 28 crashes during the month. The sheriff’s office also carried out 228 civil processes, provided 21 funeral escorts, and conducted 21 mental health transports. Special operations included two SWAT deployments, though there were no Taser deployments recorded. Additionally, deputies responded to five suicide attempt calls.
