The South Central Human Resource Agency (SCHRA) has announced that the final Lawrence County Commodity Distribution will take place on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 2100 Springer Road, Lawrenceburg. The program, part of the USDA’s The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), is coming to an end under SCHRA administration on September 30, 2025. The Tennessee Department of Agriculture is transitioning oversight of the program to regional food banks. Beginning in October, Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee will serve as the primary contact for USDA Commodities in the area. Residents seeking information about new distribution sites can call Second Harvest at 615-329-3491 or visit secondharvestmidtn.org/find-resources/find-food. Additional details are also available through the Tennessee Department of Agriculture at 615-837-5103. SCHRA expressed gratitude to the community, noting it has been their honor to provide this service for more than 30 years. For information about commodity distributions in other counties, visit www.schra.us/news. All distributions are drive-thru only. For fastest service, clients are encouraged to pre-register with their local SCHRA office at least two days prior to their county’s distribution and provide proof of eligibility such as SNAP, TANF, SSI, LIHEAP, or income verification. Those not pre-registered may still qualify at the distribution site.
