A Cherokee man was killed Sunday night after the electric bicycle he was riding was struck by a car on U.S. Highway 72, according to a report from The Times Daily.
Authorities said 38-year-old Jonathan P. Mullins was operating the bicycle when it was hit by a 2018 Hyundai Sonata around 7 p.m., about seven miles west of Cherokee. Mullins was thrown from the bicycle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Sonata was a 22-year-old woman from Iuka, Mississippi. Troopers did not indicate whether she was injured.
The crash remains under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division.
