Lawrence County firefighters rushed to the scene of an unattended fire in Ethridge Friday, to prevent it from spreading to adjacent properties, including a 230-acre cornfield.   Tennessee residents must obtain a burn permit between October 15 and May 15 each year.  Although a burn permit is not required at this time, fire officials are urging residents to use common sense before lighting an outdoor fire.  U.S. Drought monitor indicates that moderate drought conditions are prevalent in the area.  With these dry conditions, residents are urged to refrain from conducting any outdoor burning until conditions are more conducive.   If you reside inside a municipality, you should also check with that government to determine whether a city burn permit is needed.
