Tourism brought in more than $32 million to Lawrence County’s economy in 2024, according to new figures released by the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development.

The report shows Lawrence County ranked 46th among Tennessee’s 95 counties in visitor spending, unchanged from the previous year. Direct visitor spending reached $32,354,900, supporting 266 local jobs and generating $1.95 million in state tax revenue and $1.38 million in local tax revenue. The county’s tourism industry also provided $8 million in labor income.

On an average day, tourists spent $88,669 in the county. That translated into more than $21,000 in daily labor income, nearly $5,200 in daily state tax collections, and $3,779 in daily local tax collections.

Visitor spending was spread across several industries, with the largest share going to food and beverages ($11.9 million), followed by lodging ($7.2 million), retail ($6.6 million), and recreation/entertainment ($4.6 million). Transportation accounted for about $2 million in spending.

The county saw nearly 8% growth in visitor spending compared to 2023, signaling steady gains in the local tourism economy. Officials said the positive trend reflects the impact of ongoing promotion of Lawrence County’s attractions, businesses, and events.

Statewide, Tennessee set another tourism record in 2024, with all counties reporting visitor spending gains.
