The Tennessee Department of Transportation’s “Nobody Trashes Tennessee” campaign received six awards from the Public Relations Society of America’s Nashville chapter for its work in litter prevention.
The recognition came during PRSA Nashville’s 39th Annual Parthenon Awards, which celebrates outstanding public relations campaigns and strategies across Middle Tennessee.
TDOT’s 2024 “No Trash November” initiative earned Parthenon Awards in three categories: Integrated Communications, Monthly Observance, and Kick-Off News Release. It also received a Merit Award for Media Relations. Additional Merit Awards were presented for the Trash Masters Rewards program, which encourages individual litter-prevention efforts, and for TDOT’s Bear-Proof Trash Can Campaign, created in partnership with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
In 2024, No Trash November mobilized more than 2,200 volunteers at 154 cleanup events statewide, resulting in the removal of over 86,000 pounds of litter. The annual initiative engages residents, youth groups, and partner organizations in efforts to reduce the harmful effects of litter on Tennessee’s roadways and waterways.
Over the past three years, the Nobody Trashes Tennessee campaign has collected 13 Parthenon Awards and six Merit Awards. It has also gained national recognition, including an Award of Excellence at the 2024 PRSA Anvil Awards.
