The Lawrenceburg City Council approved all agenda items during its recent meeting and honored firefighter Jason Frakes, who retired after more than 27 years with the Lawrenceburg Fire Department. The planning commission reported several development projects, including construction of a new Waffle House beginning September 8 and a Starbucks location set to begin building soon. Officials also confirmed a groundbreaking for the new Lawrence County Health Department building on Friday, August 29, behind Rotary Park. The facility is expected to be completed by June 2026. Council members advanced three ordinances on second reading, including one updating taxicab definitions in the municipal code and two revising budget appropriations for the city’s General Fund in fiscal years 2024–2025 and 2025–2026. A resolution was also approved authorizing a property sale agreement between the City of Lawrenceburg and Lawrence County for land at 2279 Highway 43 South and Eagle Factory Road.
