A routine traffic stop in Lauderdale County led to a significant drug bust and arrest on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
According to the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Adam Meeks conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Highway 20 and County Road 13. Deputy Connor Barton arrived to assist during the stop. The driver, identified as Travis Leon Young, was found to have outstanding felony warrants from Lauderdale County.
During an inventory search of Young’s vehicle, deputies discovered approximately 41.4 grams of methamphetamine, along with marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Young was arrested and charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree.
Sheriff Joe Hamilton emphasized the department’s ongoing efforts to combat drug crimes, stating that the Sheriff’s Office remains proactive in enforcing drug laws throughout the county.
