Lawrenceburg City Council Approves All Agenda Items; Fire and Police Departments Announce New Hires and Promotions

The Lawrenceburg City Council met Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the Municipal Complex and approved all agenda items, including ordinances and resolutions affecting city zoning, budgets, and municipal operations. Key ordinances approved include amendments to the city’s zoning code, updates to building permit and site plan requirements, and first readings of ordinances addressing taxicab regulations and budget appropriations for the 2024–2025 and 2025–2026 fiscal years. The council also passed several resolutions, including salary supplements for city employees, acceptance of professional engineering proposals for pedestrian crossings at David Crockett State Park and the extension of Springer Road, reappointments to the Lawrenceburg Beer Board, and authorization for the Lawrenceburg Police Department to purchase four 2025 Dodge Durango SUVs through the state bid contract. The Lawrenceburg Fire Department welcomed new firefighter Gage Thigpen and announced promotions with Brian Green and Jon Brewer elevated to Battalion Chief, and Adam Slater and Justin Belew promoted to Captain. The Lawrenceburg Police Department also welcomed new officers Jenna Chavez, Will Scott, Brian Vargas, and Keith Sandlin to the force. Public hearings were held on Ordinances 1438 and 1439, and residents wishing to address agenda items signed in prior to the meeting. With all measures approved, the council continues to advance city planning, infrastructure, and municipal services for Lawrenceburg residents.
