The Tennessee Office of the Comptroller has announced the indictment of former Minor Hill City Recorder Ashley Stogner in Giles County for misappropriating public funds, as well as similar charges when she worked as a bookkeeper for Minor Hill Utility District.  The investigation revealed that Stogner forged the mayor’s signature to issue to herself unauthorized payroll checks, made PayPal payments to her personal account, took cash collections as well as donations to the library, and used utility district funds to pay off a personal court judgment. She is charged with separate crimes, including theft of property, forgery, official misconduct and violation of the Computer Crimes Act.  The crimes were said to have occurred between August 2021 and September 2024.
