The City of Florence Department of Arts and Museums will host its next Open Mic Night on Monday, Aug. 26, at 6:30 p.m. at the Southall House, 209 E. Tuscaloosa St. This month’s theme, “Something Found,” invites poets to share original works exploring the concept in creative and personal ways. The evening will feature a special reading by Tom Gordon, a Birmingham-based journalist and poet, followed by an open mic session for audience members. Organizers say the event aims to promote poetry, encourage community connection, and provide a welcoming platform for both published and unpublished poets. The program is free to attend. The Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts, located next door at 217 E. Tuscaloosa St., is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 256-760-6379.
