Limestone Authorities Warn of Scam

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a scam that has been targeting the area.  The caller falsely claims to represent the Limestone Sheriff’s Department and informs victims that they either have a warrant for their arrest or that a family member is being held in the jail.  They then seek payment through Venmo, CashApp, Bitcoin, gift cards, or similar methods.  They urge residents not to fall for the scam.  Should you receive this type of call, they urge you to check with your local law enforcement agency to verify that it is legitimate.
