Lawrence County Fire & Rescue (Tennessee) announced that as of Friday, August 1 at 8:00 AM, Station 1 will be staffed with three part-time personnel and one apparatus Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This dedicated team will respond to fires, vehicle accidents, and other high-priority emergencies across the county. Director Tyler McDow explained the growing need for the program, citing a steady decline in volunteer availability. As more residents commute outside the county for work and fewer are available locally due to economic factors, the demand for reliable daytime coverage has increased. The program will be funded through the county budget, with personnel also supporting nearby cities in the county during weekday hours. McDow shared that the program has already been operating as a pilot program, and its success has shown it to be a valuable asset to both the county and surrounding communities. He also recognized the founding members for their commitment and extended his thanks to the Lawrence County Commission for including funding for the program in this year’s budget.
