William Earl “Billy” Self

Mr. William Earl “Billy” Self was born in Lawrenceburg, TN on June 01, 1956 to his parents the late Mr. Terrell Self and Mrs. Adell Blackwood Stephenson. Mr. Self spent his formative years growing up in the natural beauty of Tennessee and developed a deep love for the outdoors. Later in his adult years, he would meet and marry his wife Mrs. Gladys Joyce Martin and the two would be joined in matrimony on August 14, 1993. The two would forever intertwine their hearts and lives and remain married until his passing. He loved the outdoors and choose the Logging Industry for his occupation as well as lawn care mowing for various people throughout his life. In his leisure time, he could often be found hunting, fishing and growing vegetables in his garden. He also possessed an artistic flair for painting often painting beautiful scenes he saw in nature from various animals to landscapes. Those who knew him best will remember him as a strong, passionate, loving husband, sibling and friend. Mr. William Earl Self passed from this life on July 30, 2025 at his home surrounded by family making his stay on this earth some 69 years, 1 month and 29 days.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 31 years Gladys Joyce Martin Self of Hohenwald, TN; children Brent Self wife Sarah of Apache Junction, AZ,  Brian Self wife Katrina of Emon Valley, PA ,Christy Butler husband William of Lawrenceburg, TN and Whitney Worden of Hagerstown, MO; siblings Wendal Self and wife Maryln of Lawrenceburg, TN, Wand Tolle husband Steve of Waynesboro, TN, Randy Self wife Tina of Wayne County, TN, Rita Long husband Scott of Lawrenceburg, TN, Rhonda Long and husband Tony of Waynesboro, TN, Stephine Self husband A.J. of Lawrenceburg, TN, and Anita Rubbert husband Donald of Summertown, TN.11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren as well as many other family, friends and dear loved ones.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers Winford Self and Ralph Self; sister Catherine Self.

Graveside Services will be held Saturday August 02, 2025 at the Highland Methodist Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN with Steve Seaton officiating.
